The BEST Blue Cheese Burger

ACTIVE TIME: 45 MIN. I TOTAL TIME: 45 MIN. I SERVES: 3 – 4

Ingredients:

Burgers

  • 1 lbs. ground beef
  • ~ 1 cup crumbled blue cheese
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • Hamburger buns
  • Salt & pepper
  • Pickles

Onions

  • 2 – 3 yellow onions, thinly sliced
  • 4 – 5 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 cup salted butter

Instructions:

  1. Start by adding the butter and onions to a skillet over medium heat. When the onions become translucent, stir in the minced garlic. Turn the heat down to medium-low and stirring frequently, sauté until the onions become a caramelized golden color. This will take about 30 minutes.
  2. While the onions are caramelizing, preheat the grill to 450°.
  3. In a large bowl, mix the ground beef and 1/2 cup of crumbled blue cheese. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Using your hands and either wax or parchment paper, form three to four patties, depending on your preferred serving size.
  5. Place the prepared patties on the heated grill and turn the heat down to approximately 350°. Cook until browned/charred before flipping the burgers and topping with more crumbled blue cheese. Add the buns to the top rack of the grill to toast at this time. Continue to grill the burgers until the desired internal temperature is reached.
  6. When the burgers are ready, remove the buns from the grill and plate. Add a light layer of mayonnaise to the bottom bun before placing a perfectly grilled patty and top with a heaping pile of onions. Finish with the top bun and a side of pickle spears. Don’t forget fries.
