Islander Flatbread Pizza

Ingredients:

  • Mae Ploy Sweet Chili Sauce
  • Olive oil
  • Shredded mozzarella
  • Sliced ham or Canadian bacon
  • Bacon, cooked
  • 1 bunch of green onions, sliced
  • A handful of cilantro, roughly chopped
  • 1 sweet onion, thinly sliced
  • 6 cloves of garlic, chopped
  • Freshly grated ginger
  • Italian cheese blend – I love Asiago, Romano and Parmesan
  • Red chili pepper flakes, to taste
  • Pizza dough – I use fresh dough from the store
  • Baking flour – Bob’s Red Mill is my favorite

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 425 and let pizza dough come to room temperature.
  2. Line baking sheet with parchment paper, dust with flour and set aside.
  3. Heat a few tablespoons of olive oil over medium high heat in a skillet. Add sliced sweet onion and sauté until caramel brown. Add half of the green onions, garlic and ginger. Cook for another 5 minutes or so and turn off heat.
  4. Stretch and flatten dough into an oblong shape on the floured surface. You want don’t want any translucent areas.
  5. Add the desired amount of Mae Ploy sauce and spread evenly, leaving a crust. Brush the crust with olive oil.
  6. Sprinkle a light layer of shredded mozzarella. Add ham/Canadian bacon, chopped bacon, cilantro, a handful of green onions and more mozzarella. Carefully add the caramelized onion mixture. Top with Italian cheese blend and red chili pepper flakes.
  7. Cook until crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling. Cut in strips and heat leftovers in the air fryer or oven.
  8. Enjoy. 🤌🏼
